A Facebook business page is a great weapon to have in your digital marketing arsenal; it gives you a platform to achieve your business objectives i.e. drive sales, increase traffic to website and raise brand awareness and what’s more its all measurable.

But are you making the most of the opportunity and how frequently do you update and review the information on your business page?

Let’s take a look at 3 simple ways you could improve your Facebook page.

Cover Image

The cover image is the first things users see when they visit your Facebook page, make sure the image represents your business and is well designed. The image dimensions for the cover image are 851 X 315 pixels, so design your cover image with this in mind, as anything smaller will be stretched to fit and the image will appear blurry.

Although you want the image quality to be high on your cover image, make sure your file size is below 100kb to avoid Facebook applying compression when uploaded; this will also make your image appear blurry. You can do this by saving the file as a jpeg and compressing the file to 100kb or below.

When designing your cover image give thought to where the profile picture and button overlays will appear and avoid designs that are obstructed by these. Optimise your cover image to drive traffic to your website by adding a link in the image description i.e. visit us at www.indigoinbound.co.uk.

Lastly, regularly updating your cover image is good practice to avoid a stale page appearance.

Here are few rocking designs to inspire you:

Complete your About Section

Incomplete information in your about section could result in missed traffic, make sure that this section is kept up to date and reviewed regularly. The about section will look different depending on your chosen category when creating your page, typical information fields include address, short & long descriptions, products, phone, email and website address.

Keeping this section up to date tells visitors to your page what you do, where to find you and how to contact you.

Use Third Party Apps

There are many third party apps available that plug in to your business page to help you create page tabs. Page tabs appear in the left hand column of your timeline page in between the about and photos sections; a thumbnail image is displayed to represent the tab, the image dimensions for thumbnails is 111 x 74 pixels.

These tabs can help drive traffic to your website and can be created using html or by setting a redirect to the relevant page of your website. There is a wide variety of app providers and most offer free features as well as paid for features. Woobox is one of the most popular app providers and can also be used to create Facebook contests, quizzes and polls.
